BrainsGate develops innovative therapies for central nervous system diseases. The comany's platform technology has been shown to increase blood flow to the brain through a small electrode implanted in a minimally invasive, local anesthesia oral procedure. The company is currently focusing on treatment of acute ischemic stroke in the critical 24 hour window after onset of symptoms, where it is in the midst of a pivotal clinical trial to gain market approval. A second application, vascular dementia, has already undergone a successful feasibility clinical study.
